Batad sa Paang Palay, Cinemalaya 2006

Synopsis:
A 14-year old Batad Boy, a high school dropout, is forced to sell produce in the Banawe market to augment the family income while his father pursues the philantrophic mission of repairing the rice terraces of adjoining Ifugao villages. Exposed to Western modernization in Banawe, the boy obsesses with owning a pair of rubber shoes that he does not really need. In pursuit of his dream sneakers, he takes on all odd jobs imaginable and ultimately becomes a tour guide. During one of his tours, he barters his guide fee for a pair of shoes which are, however, too big for him. Upon possessing the long-desired rubber shoes, he attempts to leave his Ifugao roots and chase big city dreams. via

We slept at Mang Ramon’s Home Stay where the film was shot. I took a picture of this movie poster on their wall. Mang Ramon was also invited to attend the opening of Cinemalaya at CCP.

Souvenir Shop by the Cliff
Shot on the way to the town of Batad, Ifugao. Batad is known for their amphitheater like rice terraces. We needed to hike an extra 1 1/2 hours due to landslide on the way.

My very first backpacking itinerary (via spidermash)
I left those stuff on her station right before she got back from her first fifteen minute break.
Spontaneity.

My memory has always been my travel bag. Hi. I’m Erwin also known as spidermash here in Tumblr. I’m a weekday slave and weekend nomad. I find myself lost most of the time. I like backpacking though I don’t have sense of direction. I just go.
The photo above was taken during my first real travel. Why real? Because that’s when I first went missing and lost in translation. Oh, yes I hate tourists. And please do not expect me to like Boracay or Puerto Galera. :)
So there.
